Team 4433, Conrad Weiser High School
Robesonia, Pa (Lat. 40 20' 53"  Lon. 76 07' 04")

About the Team:

The Smokin' Motors team is now in its third year! We have a full roster of 10 team members again this year. We also have a lot of help from our mentors and coaches. We are looking forward to another good year!

Our team was started in 2010 with about 40 members. However, as meetings continued, Team 4433 eventually dwindled down to two people. As you can imagine, being a rookie team with few mentors is hard enough. Having only two people was quite a challenge for us. We sent out many emails and one team from New Jersey sent us a page of their engineering notebook. Another team even sent us gears and sprockets. This was a huge help for us. We were pleasantly surprised at the willingness of other FTC teams to help us. All of us were very impressed with this program.

This experience has really inspired us to help other rookie teams so we wrote a guide on how to get started with FTC. We also have a guide for using RobotC. (See "Tips and Tricks" or email us)

Team 4433 is now growing and has a total of 10 students and 5 mentors. This is a huge improvement from last year. It has been a joy to have so many people on the team. This way we can test multiple designs and collaborate on ideas. We are also working on getting more members by starting a club at Conrad Weiser Middle School. The students on the middle school team are doing a great job at building. So far, they have built a chassis with motors and sensors. They are now learning about the programming aspect of robotics.

We hope to keep continued interest in FTC robotics at Conrad Weiser as the 7th and 8th graders in the middle school come up to the high school. These students use the same materials as the high school team does and we occasionally bring them to competitions and other events with us.
